Orange Blossom

ORANGE BLOSSOM

Création Carmelle Bigaouette, Montage Alain Le...

Hook: Partridge Bartleet Supreme; Code CS10/2.
Tag: Fine oval silver tinsel and Orange silk floss (yellow floss sometimes is used, but orange seems more in keeping with the design).
Tail: A Golden Pheasant crest feather, over which is an Indian Crow feather of about half the length (a few red hackle fibers are often substituted).
Butt: Black Ostrich herl.
Body: Embossed silver tinsel which is palmered with a yellow hackle (the hackle often is eliminated on small sizes). An alternate dressing calls for the rear half of the body to be dressed with embossed silver tinsel, and the front half with bright yellow silk floss or Seal's fur. In this case, only the front half is palmered.
Ribbing: Oval silver tinsel, wound over the hackle, if it is used.
Ribbing: Oval silver tinsel.
Wing: A small bunch of pale brown bucktail, extending to the end of the tail. The wing should be very pale. Sometimes this is accomplished by mixing light brown bucktail with white bucktail. The wing is tied low, close to the hook.
Throat: Two bright orange hackles tied on at the same time as a collar, after the wing has been put on. About three turns of both hackles should be made to make the collar fairly full. The longest fibers extend to the point of the hook, and all are tied back slightly.
Cheeks: Jungle cock (optionnel).
Head: Black.
