Greenwell's Glory

Greenwell's Glory
Hook: Dry fly hook #14-16
Thread: Olive
Tail: Three strands of brown mallard shoulder
Ribbing: Gold wire
Body: Danville's olive tying thread
Wing: Grey duck quill strips
Hackle: Greenwell, furnace or grizzly dyed red-brown

This is my tie of a a fly Alice Conba sent me, with the grizzly hackle dyed red-brown. I never cease to be amazed by her recipes. Like her version of the standard Greenwell's, this dressing is so inventive. I especially like the way she uses Danville's waxed olive tying thread, dispensing with the traditional cobblers wax. This one was tied on a #19 TMC102BL hook.
